Engineer through a work-study program

ISEN Ouest engineering cycle program structure

The engineering cycle covers the final three years of the ISEN Ouest program. Under an apprenticeship status, these three years are completed in a apprenticeship training within a host company.

Throughout the program, students alternate between time at school and time in the company, gradually building their skills. These alternating periods typically last about six weeks during the first two years, then six months in the final year. This rhythm allows students to work with companies across France.

ITII_BRETAGNE

The ISEN Ouest engineering apprenticeship training on the Brest campus is run in partnership with ITII Bretagne.

On the Caen and Nantes campuses, the engineering apprenticeship training is supported by the ISEN Ouest apprenticeship training center (CFA).

Admissions

BTS Prépa

The BTS Prepa is a preparatory program for admission to the ISEN Ouest engineering cycle. It is open to final-year general, technological, or vocational high school students. This track combines a BTS diploma at one of our six partner high schools with 150 additional hours of courses in mathematics, computer science, and personal and social development.
After completing this program, students may enter the ISEN Ouest engineering cycle as apprentices. Admission to the engineering cycle is subject to application approval and an interview.

BAC+2/3

Students with at least a 2- or 3-year degree can apply directly to the ISEN Ouest work-study track. This pathway is particularly suitable for students with BUT 2/3 (GEII, Networks & Telecom, Computer Science), but also open to BTS, Licence 3 students, and those from CPGE or ATS Prepa

Successful applicants start directly in the first year of the apprenticeship training and follow the work-study program for all three years, provided they secure an apprenticeship contract.

In the fourth year, students choose from 15 professional fields to specialize in.

They share their stories

Julien, an ISEN Ouest graduate now working at Mybacchus, shares his journey. Julien chose the Computer Science and Digital track, completed his third year with a professionalization contract, and continued in the apprenticeship training (FISA) for his fourth and fifth years.

ISEN Ouest Bachelor’s degrees

Two new Bachelor of Science and Engineering (BSE) programs, in Cybersecurity (Nantes) and Artificial Intelligence (Brest), now complement ISEN Ouest’s apprenticeship-based programs.

These three-year programs combine a first year of full-time study at the school with two years of mandatory work-study, preparing students to become job-ready professionals in fast-growing sectors.
