Program overview
In Years 1 and 2, you strengthen the essential scientific foundations of engineering education. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering sciences and digital technologies help you develop reasoning, modelling, experimentation and problem-solving skills.
To tailor your studies to your interests, the Generalist Cycle offers two options: Sciences or Mechanics. Both share a rigorous scientific foundation, while allowing you either to deepen your knowledge of fundamental sciences or to explore mechanics and its applications in greater detail.
In Year 3, you join the common core of the ISEN Ouest Engineering Cycle. You further develop your knowledge of engineering sciences and digital technologies before freely choosing your professional field in Year 4.
Sciences option
Do you enjoy understanding scientific phenomena, applying logical reasoning, experimenting and exploring theoretical concepts in greater depth? The Sciences option is designed for students who want to deepen their knowledge of fundamental sciences while maintaining a broad-based engineering education.
What subjects are covered in greater depth in the Sciences option?
Particular emphasis is placed on mathematics and physics, as well as modelling and experimental methods. The aim is to master the theoretical and practical tools needed to analyse complex problems, develop models and test theoretical concepts through experimentation.
Why choose the Sciences option?
This in-depth scientific education provides a strong foundation for further studies in digital technologies and engineering sciences. It is particularly suited to students who enjoy science but want to keep their options open before choosing their professional field.
Programme prévisionnel

| Subjects | Hours |
|---|---|
| Advanced Mathematics | 120 h |
| Advanced Physics | 120 h |
| Engineering Sciences | 90 h |
| Supervised Research Project (TIPE) – Robotics | 30 h |
Mechanics option
Do you enjoy understanding how objects and systems work? Are you interested in mechanics, robotics, mechatronics or automation? The Mechanics option allows you to acquire the fundamental scientific knowledge required for engineering studies while exploring the design and analysis of mechanical systems.
What subjects are covered in greater depth in the Mechanics option?
Today, mechanics and digital technologies are closely interconnected. The design of new systems increasingly relies on digital modelling, simulation, computer-aided design (CAD) and additive manufacturing. The Mechanics option therefore combines rigorous teaching in fundamental sciences and mechanics with hands-on experience using these digital tools.
Why choose the Mechanics option?
CThis approach helps you understand the different stages involved in analysing, designing and developing mechanical systems. It also provides an introduction to fields such as robotics, mechatronics, automation and mechanical design, without requiring you to commit to a specialization during the first years of your engineering studies.

| Subjects | Hours |
|---|---|
| Mechanics | 240 h |
| Engineering Sciences | 120 h |
A 3+2 pathway
After the Generalist Track, students often pursue fields such as:
-
Robotics – Factory of the Future
-
Energy
-
Embedded Systems
-
Electric Mobility
However, all other professional domains remain open as well.
